SCHOOL UNIFORM Uniform must be worn by all pupils, but is not excessively formal and is so designed that the clothing can also be worn during holiday periods. Parents are supplied with lists of all necessary garments, including sports wear. VACATIONS Each term consists of approximately twelve weeks, and there are usually two breaks of four weeks duration and a summer holiday period of two months. Boys are expected to return to school promptly, and permission is given for early departure only in rare and urgent cases. Weekend visiting is permitted in moderation, every third week-end during the term being an occasion when boys are entitled to be visited or to be taken out. On such week-ends those pupils who, for family reasons, cannot be visited are taken on excursions. During periods of public external examinations it is sometimes necessary to curtail these privileges.
