SOCIETIES
AND
CLUBS
Boys are encouraged to
participate in the school's many and varied
societies, all of which enhance the formal
education of the classroom. These activities
operate under the guidance of a member of staff,
but the boys are expected to play a full part in
their day-to-day conduct. Among the societies are
the Literary and Debating Society, Jewish History
Society, Chess Club, Film Society, Dramatic
Society, Art Club, Modelling Club, Pottery Club,
Geography Society and Photography Society. In
addition, many visits to theatres and places of
outside interest are arranged for school parties.
A notable feature of the Spring Term is the
Inter-House Festival, which provides a
competitive element outside the realm of sport.
The emphasis is on the preparation of creative
work, and on Festival Day adjudications are given
and musical and dramatic stage events take place.
